Preparing for an Interview
Competency Based Interview:
Most interviews today are ‘Competency’ sometimes known as ‘evidenced’ or ‘structured’ interviews. They are designed to be as fair as possible, and always have a scoring mechanism attached.
These interviews are normally conducted by two people, one taking notes and the other asking the questions.
Scoring Sheets are used following the interviews.
Answers are ‘marked’ against a matrix with agreed positive and negative points.
Carefully read the job description/role profile, and note the requirements of the role, many role profiles will also identify key competencies, and these will give you a clue as to what to expect. Make sure that you frame all of your answers using STAR:
